Final Report: Video

In a global industrial context already compromised by a workplace accident every 15 seconds with a GDP impact of about 4% (Source ILO, International Labor Organization), the Covid19 pandemic emergency risks breaking the already fragile balance between the need to maintain the competitiveness of our economies and the centrality of safeguarding workers during critical industrial activities.

Smart Track (www.smarttrack.io) is an innovative spin-off of the University of Genoa, Italy, which has developed an innovative IOT platform for the protection of Workers 4.0 based on proprietary patents.

Already successfully installed in primary national production contexts (e.g. the Digital Industry 4.0 Light House Plant of Ansaldo Energy in Genoa, the IREN waste-to-energy plant in Turin and other key Industrial and Enterprise 4.0 sites  throughout Europe) the SmartTrack™ platform allows different levels of protection safeguarding Workers, both indoor and outdoor of production areas, assessing the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), activating safety alarms (Man on Ground, Entering area subject to Geofencing, Human-Machine/Robot Collision Risk ..) and the correct management of intervention and evacuation procedures in the unfortunate event of an accident.

This proposal provides for the extension of the SmartTrack™ platform with a new module called SmartTrack4Covid™ jointly developed with sub-contractor KNOWHEDGE (www.knowhedge.com) a leading IoT company specialized in the engineering of low energy tracking solutions based on the new BLE 5 Angle of Arrival standard  supporting the monitoring and alerting of social distancing and closed space  gatherings within working setups as requested by the new COVID 19 working regulations.

Smart track will use will the financial support of the Inno4Covid call to further develop the Smart Track 4 Covid module already available as system prototype in an operating environment (TRL7) in the maximum period of 11 months foreseen by the Inno4Covid program turning the actual prototype into a complete, qualified and tested system (TRL8-9) to be validated in an industrial area with the support of Inno4Covid Consortium as sub-contractor.
