Affordable, sensitive, specific, user-friendly, robust and rapid, equipment-free diagnostic methods are required to address outbreaks of infectious diseases such as the current COVID19 pandemic. Thanks to the INNO4COVID funding we will evaluate the usability in clinical settings of a novel single use test for SARS-CoV-2 detection, called iAMP COVID-19.  iAMP COVID-19 test is a fast, instrument-free, fully disposable, cost-effective and easily deployable test that relies on molecular detection and not on antigen recognition. iAMP COVID-19 rapid test has all the advantages of the portable and disposable rapid antigen tests, but with the sensitivity and specificity of the molecular assays. iAMPCOVID-19 rapid molecular test address SARS-CoV-2 detection challenges that are not solved by the currently used solutions such RT-PCR (long sample-to-result time and use of centralized and expensive equipment) and antigen tests (lack of accuracy that leads to false negatives when  SARS-CoV-2 viral load is low).
